Byambasuren Davaa
Byambasuren Davaa , actually Dawaagiin Bjambasüren ( Mongolian Даваагийн Бямбасүрэн ; * 1971 in Ulaanbaatar , Mongolia ) is a Mongolian documentary filmmaker and director.
Life
Byambasuren began her career in 1989 - parallel to studying law - as a presenter and assistant director for Mongolia's state television. From 1995 to 1998 she graduated from the Ulaanbaatar College of Film Art. In 2000 she went to the University of Television and Film Munich to study documentary film and television journalism . There she shot her second film with Luigi Falorni for her intermediate diploma : The Story of the Weeping Camel . This documentary was a great success worldwide and was nominated for an Oscar in 2005 in the category Best Documentary . Davaa made her graduation film at the HFF in 2005: The Cave of the Yellow Dog . In June 2008, shooting began on Davaa's new feature documentary The Song of the Two Horses with the Mongolian singer Urna, which celebrated its world premiere in August 2009 on the Piazza Grande in Locarno. The song of the two horses started on June 3, 2010 in German cinemas and has been shown at more than 30 international film festivals. In addition to theatrical releases in Holland, France, Spain and Switzerland, the film will also be released in Mongolia for the first time in 2012.
