Jörg Adolph

Jörg Adolph (* 1967 in Herford ) is a German filmmaker ( documentary film ), producer and film editor .

Life

From 1988 to 1994 he studied modern German literature and media in Marburg and, after graduating, moved to the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) to study television journalism and documentary film. His graduation film "Small, Fast and Out of Control", made in collaboration with ZDF / 3sat and HR , received the 2001 German TV Prize . Jörg Adolph works as a freelance documentary filmmaker, writes television reviews for the taz and has been teaching there since his time as a research / artistic assistant at the HFF Munich.

He documented artistic creative processes in several films: In “On / Off the Record” he observed the three-month creation of the critically acclaimed album “Neon Golden” by the German pop group The Notwist . For "Houwelandt - A novel is created" he accompanied the writer John von Düffel for 15 months and was thus able to follow the entire process from writing to marketing and selling his book. His documentary about the Göttingen publisher Gerhard Steidl is also about literature . Together with the filmmaker Gereon Wetzel, Jörg Adolph accompanied the art book publisher on his travels to Karl Lagerfeld , Jeff Wall , Ed Ruscha , Günter Grass and Robert Frank in “How to make a book with Steidl” .

In his documentary film The Great Passion , which can be seen in cinemas in 2011 , Adolph turns to the theater. For several years he watched the preparations and performances of the Oberammergau Passion Play with the camera . In 2018, he documented the work with children in the children's and youth clinic in Gelsenkirchen in the parents' school .
