Oliver Haffner

Oliver Haffner (born April 4, 1974 in Germersheim ) is a German film and theater director and screenwriter.

Career

Haffner grew up in Munich and, after graduating from high school, began studying political science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , which he broke off after completing his basic studies. He then completed a degree in theater directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna . A short time as assistant at the Vienna Burgtheater followed .

Haffner began as a freelance director at various German theaters to stage (among others at the Vienna Festival , the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , the Ulm Theater , the State Theater Linz , at the Theater Regensburg and at the State Theater of Lower Austria ). During this time he studied feature film directing at the University of Television and Film Munich . His graduation film Mein Leben im Off was released in German cinemas in 2011 and has received numerous awards.

In addition to his film and theater work, he is professor for "media-specific representation" (film acting) in the "Acting" course at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf in Potsdam, and as a freelance lecturer at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna in the field of drama.

Haffner lives and works in Munich and Berlin . He sees his cinematic role models in the socially critical British cinema (he is a fan of Ken Loach and Mike Leigh ) and in Danish cinema.
