Peter Herrmann (producer)

Peter Herrmann (born December 27, 1954 in Starnberg ) is a German film producer .

Life

After studying ethnology in Munich, Herrmann began working as a documentary film director and producer. Gin for the Gods , a 90-minute documentary film about voodoo cults in West Africa, was his first success and was premiered at the Munich Film Festival. In 1994 he co-founded MTM, a Munich-based film production company, with which he produced the 2003 Oscar-winning film Nowhere in Africa . Since 2004 he has also been working for Desert Flower Filmproduktion GmbH. Herrmann has been a member of the award committee for project film funding at the Filmförderungsanstalt since 2014 . Since the beginning of 2015 he has been chairman of the supervisory board of German Films Service + Marketing GmbH , the information and advice center for the worldwide export of German films. Peter Herrmann has held the professorship Creative Producing at the International Film School Cologne since 2018 .
