Francis Meletzky (born as Franziska Meletzky , born July 23, 1973 in Leipzig ) is a German film director .

Since 2017 she has been using the first name “Francis” instead of “Franziska”, which appears in the opening and closing credits for the first time in 2018 in the two-part TV series Aenne Burda - Die Wirtschaftswunderfrau .

Live and act

From 1993 to 1997 Meletzky studied German , English and communication and media studies at the University of Leipzig . In 1997 she began studying directing at the Konrad Wolf Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg , which she completed in 2004.

In 1999 she shot her first short film with Scent , for which she also wrote the script. In 2004 she directed her first feature film with neighbors , which was nominated in 2004 for the First Steps Award and in 2005 for the New Faces Award as best debut film. For neighbors, Meletzky also brought three years later Frei according to plan , which was awarded as Best Film at the Shanghai International Film Festival . In 2008 Meletzky shot two episodes of the television series Dr. Psycho - The bad guys, the cops, my wife and me .

Francis Meletzky is married and has two children. The family lives in Potsdam .
