Lea van Acken
Lea van Acken (* 20th February 1999 in Luebeck ) is a German actress . She played her first leading roles in the films Kreuzweg and Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank .
Life
Lea van Acken grew up in Schleswig-Holstein . As a child she was interested in riding and dancing, among other things. She was on stage for the first time in 2011 as an extra in the performance of Der Ölprinz at the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg . In an interview with the weekly newspaper Die Zeit , she reported that she had studied other actors in films.
In 2014 van Acken played the leading role of the deeply religious adolescent Maria in the film drama Kreuzweg by director Dietrich Brüggemann . The film won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2014 . In Brüggemann's next film Heil , a satire about neo-Nazis , van Acken played a teenager. She also played a small role in Bernadette Knoller's RBB film Ferien .
In 2015 she was seen in a supporting role in the fifth season of the US series Homeland , which was filmed entirely in Germany. She also appeared in the SWR film Tell Me Nothing and in the Spreewald crime thriller Game with Death ( ZDF ). Van Acken played the title role of Anne Frank in the literary film adaptation of Anne Frank's Diary , which was shot in spring 2015 and was released in cinemas on March 3, 2016 . In preparation for the role of the Jewish girl made famous by his diary , she wrote fictional letters to Anne Frank. For the final scene, which takes place in the concentration camp , the actress had her hair shaved off for an authentic representation.
