Tomasz Emil Rudzik

Tomasz Emil Rudzik (born February 2, 1979 in Cieszyn , Poland ) is a German film director and screenwriter with Polish roots.

Life

Rudzik grew up as the only son of Polish emigrants in Cologne. After graduating from high school, he did his community service as a caretaker and DJ in a senior day care center. From 1999 to 2001 he studied cultural and theater studies and Polish studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin , then from 2001 onwards at the University of Television and Film in Munich, camera and directing. For his short film Garage Love , shot in 2004 , he received the German Business Film Prize in gold and the BMW Short Film Award that same year . In 2009 he shot his graduation film Desperados on the Block , for which he was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize . As a scholarship holder of the 22nd Screenwriting Workshop in Munich he developed the script for his debut film Agnieszka , which had its world premiere at the 30th Warsaw International Film Festival .

Rudzik lives and works in Munich .
