Ayşe Romey
Ayşe Romey (* 1970 in Virginia ) is a German-Turkish actress and illustrator born in the United States . She became known in 1988 as the heroine in Hark Bohm's film Yasemin .
Life
Ayşe Romey came to Germany from Turkey in 1975 with her mother, the environmentalist Birsel Lemke . At the age of 17 she married and met the writer Maxim Biller as a friend of her husband. After the breakdown of the marriage, she was in a relationship with Biller for a year and a half.
In Hark Bohm's film drama Yasemin , she played the title character, a young Turkish woman who falls in love with a German boy. For her performance, the then still young actress received the Young Actor Award at the Bavarian Film Prize (1989) as well as the Federal Film Award 1989 for best young actress .
In 1993 she starred in the movie The Blue Exile , the film adaptation of the memoirs by the Turkish journalist Cevat Şakir .
Romey later illustrated books, for example, Children Ask, Nobel Prize Winners Answer (2002).
Esra controversy
The distribution of the key novel Esra (2003) by Maxim Biller was legally prohibited at the request of Romey and her mother because he had "seriously" violated Romey's personal rights. On February 13, 2008, the Munich District Court I sentenced the author and the Kiepenheuer & Witsch publishing house , who published the book, to pay his former girlfriend € 50,000 in compensation. This decision was overturned by the BGH in November 2009. As a result, the book remains banned, but the author and the publisher do not have to pay pain and suffering.
