We Are Scientists is an American indie rock band from New York .
history
The three New Yorkers Keith Murray, Chris Cain and Michael Tapper went to the same university together. Chris and Michael already knew each other and had already made music together. Together with Keith Murray as the front man, they began their career as an indie rock band in 2000. The band name came about by chance during a conversation with a freight forwarder.
Drummer Michael Tapper left the band in November 2007 because he was stressed from constant touring. He moved to Los Angeles with his girlfriend while the other band members continued to live in New York. The band had found a drummer for the current tour at the time, but the collaboration was only planned for a few months. A full replacement was not yet known at the time. However, Dominic Howard, drummer for the band Muse , revealed in an interview that his close friend Andy Burrows , ex- Razorlight drummer , would soon be recording some new songs with We Are Scientists. Burrows has been a permanent member of the band since 2009, and the album Barbara , released in June 2010, was recorded with him .
