Manillio (born May 14, 1987 in Frauenfeld ; real name Manuel Liniger ) is a Swiss rapper from Solothurn .
biography
In 2005, inspired by the Bernese rapper Greis , Manillio dared to take his first steps in the rap business, working as both a producer and a rapper. He soon found contacts with regional rap artists. In 2006, he won a rap competition from Stress ' group Double Pact, earning a feature on their best-of album. Later he was able to perform with them in the Zurich X-Tra . Shortly afterwards, the first part of his mixtape series Jurassic Parts appeared . From then on he made a name for himself throughout Switzerland with features on releases by many well-known Swiss rappers such as Greis and Tommy Vercetti . After he made the first part of the Jurassic Parts trilogy available for free on the Internet, the last two parts were released on CDs. Manillio said of Jurassic Parts Vol. 3: 5 Before Gross , released in 2008 , that he saw it as the last step before his solo album. In 2008 he reached his next career high point when he appeared together with rappers like Jay-Z , Wu-Tang Clan , Kool Savas and Ice Cube at the Openair Frauenfeld .
After he was signed to the record label Nation Music, his solo album Every Day Superstar was released on October 2, 2009 , which placed 36th on the official Swiss album hit parade in the first week of the chart, but did not want to hold up afterwards. For the solo debut of the Solothurn rapper, a video clip was shot for the song Wüukomme im Zoo . In 2010 Manillio was represented with two songs on the album Smalltalk by the Swiss producer Sad . A video clip was produced for the song My Way on Sads album. On April 30th the EP Strength was released.
In 2013 he released his second album Irgendwo on the Sound Service label , which went straight to number 6 on the Swiss album charts . The album was received extremely positively by fans and critics and was able to establish Manillio as a fixture in the Swiss rap scene.
At the Swiss Music Awards 2014 Manillio was nominated for an award as "Best Breaking Act National".
His third and most successful album to date , Kryptonit , was released on Universal Music in 2016. It immediately reached number 1 on the Swiss album charts and stayed in the Top 100 for 21 weeks. The first single, Monbijou , became a summer hit and reached number 37 in the single charts.
On November 25, 2016, he won the first Swiss Energy Music Award at the Energy Star Night .
Since March 2019 he has led a. a. opened a second-hand shop together with Greis in Bern.
