Greis (born April 3, 1978 in Lausanne , real name Grégoire Vuilleumier ) is a Swiss rapper .
biography
Greis comes from the Bernese Chlyklass crew and is a member of the band PVP . He works with other Swiss musicians, such as Züri West , TAFS from the Basel area, with EKR or Big Zis from Zurich or Sens Unik and Stress from Lausanne .
With Eis , Greis has released a well-known Swiss hip-hop album. He's not a strict hip-hopper , but works with musicians of other styles. Greis represents Switzerland on the Futurama United Nations Remix by Kool Savas and on the Starting Block Remix by Soprano . Greis performs his lyrics in French, in Swiss dialect and occasionally in English.
With his album 3 he was nominated in the category Best European Act (MTV European Music Awards).
Since March 2019 he has led a. a. together with Manillio a second-hand shop in Bern.
Publications
The name of the album, Eis , is the Bernese word for one and indicates that it is Greis' first solo album . In 2004 Greis released the album Eifach Nüt with his Chlyklass Crew (PVP) . In 2004 Greis developed the album Prestige with the German Curse , Tafs member Taz and the beat maker Claud from the Kuchikäschtli section . In 2006 the Switzerland-Africa sampler Rogue State of Mind was created , on which Godessa, Rennie from the Kuchikäschtli section, Dimtri from the Hobbitz , Pan, Baze or Whodis and the singer Seven are among others . The proceeds from the Rogue State of Mind went to the “Party with a Purpose” project in the Cape Flats of Cape Town. In February 2013, the first completely French-language album Greis Anatomy was released as a free download on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his debut album Eis . In spring 2015 he ends up with the Chlyklass album why always me? for the first time at number 1 on the Swiss charts. In November the release of his 6th solo album Hünd i parkierte Outos follows .
Music content
Greis addresses social grievances, personal problems or current world and local politics and jokes about himself, his environment and the hip-hop scene. He addresses political issues such as the dark side of globalization , the Spanish Civil War or the right-wing populist Swiss People's Party and calls for solidarity with socially disadvantaged people and for anti-racism .
With the group Noti Wümié , Greis played rap mixed with stand-up comedy and improvisation music together with guitarist Benjamin Noti .
