Section Kuchikäschtli is a Swiss hip-hop band from Igis in the canton of Graubünden with Swiss-German lyrics.
Band history
The band was founded in 1998 and has consisted of the rapper Rennie and DJ Stimpee Kutz as well as the producer Claud , who has also produced for the German rapper Curse , among others . The Kuchikäschtli section belongs to the Bauers collective , which also includes Luut & Tüütli , X-Chaibä and Breitbild as well as the rapper Gimma .
In connection with the commercial success of the album Nur so am Rand , the band was criticized from the scene. Among other things, the accusation arose that the Kuchikäschtli section was not doing “real” hip-hop. The reason for this is likely to be the lack of proll and battleraps and the lack of swear words in the lyrics. With the album Affatanz they entered the Swiss album charts at number 2.
style
Rennie's lyrics range from funny to profound. Personal suffering and world problems are addressed as well as women and other everyday issues. The beats are almost all soul - to funk-heavy and rather laid-back, and therefore often quite similar.
The name
Kuchikäschtli ( kitchen box , high German kitchen cupboard ) is pronounced very differently within Switzerland: The pronunciation of Kuchikäschtli shows its more precise origin , in the case of the Kuchikäschtli section, the Graubünden one. People in Zurich would notsay Kuchikäschtli but Chuchichäschtli . Pronunciation is difficult for non-Swiss people because the Swiss have their own sounds, e.g. B. have for the Ä and the Ch .
