Reto Suhner

Reto Suhner (* 1974 in Herisau ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( saxophones , flutes , clarinets , also duduk , composition ).

Live and act

Suhner graduated from the jazz school in St. Gallen and then took private lessons with Dick Oatts , Billy Drewes , Rich Perry and Bob Mover in New York.

With his Reto Suhner Quartet, which currently consists of Philip Henzi, Sylvan Jeger and Dominic Egli , he has been performing at home and abroad since 2000 and has released seven albums. In 2009 he founded his nonet and in 2012 a duo with Fabian M. Müller . He was a member of the Swiss Jazz Orchestra and the Zurich Jazz Orchestra . He also played with Herbie Kopf , Martin Streule , Matthias Spillmann , Lester Menezes and Pius Baschnagel, but also modern classical music and (in the Tritonus Ensemble ) folk music. He can also be heard on albums by Adrian Frey , Christoph Stiefel , Béatrice Graf , Max Frankl and Johannes Lauer .

In 1998 and 2007 Suhner received the cultural promotion award of the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
