Martin Streule

Martin Streule (born May 29, 1971 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( composition , arrangement ) and big band leader.

Live and act

Streule, who has lived in Bern since 1991, first studied electric bass with Stefan Rademacher and composition and arrangement with Frank Sikora at the Swiss Jazz School , and then completed his training at the Bern Conservatory with Hans Peter Blaser (wind orchestra director and instrumentation) and Urs Peter Schneider (Composition) to continue.

In 1997 he founded his Martin Streule Jazz Orchestra , which has released four albums with its own compositions and arrangements since 1998; He also worked as a conductor with various orchestras such as the Swiss Jazz Orchestra , the Zurich Jazz Orchestra , Feldmusik Sarnen and the Lukas Brügger Jazz Orchestra. He was also the artistic director of the Bodan Art Orchestra in Eastern Switzerland for many years. He also composed and arranged for the Swiss Army Big Band , the Bern Symphonic Wind Orchestra, the Bern Chamber Orchestra and other ensembles.

Streule works as a teacher for electric bass and ensemble playing at the Swiss Jazz School , but also as a lecturer for arrangement and composition at the Zurich University of the Arts and as a lecturer for arrangement, composition and conducting at the Bern University of the Arts.

Prizes and awards

Strele was a finalist with the Camerata St.Petersburg in the international conducting competition of the Grenchen Music Prize; With his Martin Streule Jazz Orchestra , he won the 2003 Zurich Cantonal Bank Jazz Prize .
