Urs Peter Schneider
Urs Peter Schneider (born February 14, 1939 in Bern ) is a Swiss composer .
Live and act
His studies took him to 1966 with Walter Lang and Bruno Seidlhofer (piano) as well as with Sándor Veress and Karlheinz Stockhausen , Henri Pousseur , Frederic Rzewski (composition) - to Bern , Cologne and Vienna . In 1968 he founded the Ensemble Neue Horizonte Bern .
Schneider wrote over one hundred and fifty compositions in all genres, with a preference for chamber music with over two thousand performances worldwide.
Since 1973 Schneider has also appeared as a free improvising musician. a. with Pierre Favre , Léon Francioli , Irène Schweizer , Maggie Nichols , John Zorn , Philippe Micol , with his trios and as a soloist.
Until 2002 he was a full-time professor at the Bern University of Music . Since his retirement he has devoted himself to language performance with increased interest.
His complete works have been published by aart-verlag , Bern, since 2009 .
Schneider lives with his second wife, Marion Leyh, in Biel / Bienne .
