Stefan Rademacher

Stefan Rademacher (* 1961 in Düsseldorf ) is a German fusion musician (bass, composition ).

Live and act

Rademacher, who grew up in Krefeld, initially self-taught drums and guitar as a child . At the age of twelve he received accordion lessons, later lessons on the electric bass . After high school and community service, he studied medicine at the University of Düsseldorf from 1982 to 1986 . Parallel to his studies, he appeared in the bands of Christoph Spendel and Axel Fischbacher . After taking a jazz course in Banff with Dave Holland , he decided to pursue a career as a professional musician.

Rademacher now also worked with Michał Urbaniak , Annie Whitehead , Eddie Harris and Pete York . As a member of Norbert Gottschalk & Friends , he received the German Record Critics' Prize in 1988 . In 1989 he appeared in the Swiss TV production "Jazz-in-Concert" with Lee Ritenour , Don Grusin and Tom Brechtlein. He has worked in live and studio productions with Chaka Khan , Lenny Castro , Joey Heredia, Idris Muhammad , David Friedman , Ack van Rooyen , Bobby Shew , Tom Coster , Will Calhoun , Mike Herting and the WDR Big Band .

From 1994 to 2007 he was part of Billy Cobham's band , in which he recorded five albums, performed worldwide and met Randy Brecker , Gary Husband , George Duke , Hiram Bullock , Dean Brown , Tim Garland and Dave Samuels . Since 1997 he has played regularly with the guitarist Axel Fischbacher and guests in the Jazzkeller Krefeld in the concert series jazzattack . He can also be heard on albums by Peter Wölpl , Jörg Kaufmann , Klaus König and Frank Sichmann.

Rademacher has been a lecturer at the Bern University of the Arts since 1995 ; In addition, he has lectureships at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf and, since 2009, at the Folkwang University of the Arts .
