Lenny Castro

Lenny Castro (born January 12, 1950 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) is an American percussionist and session musician.

Career

At the age of 15 years Castro began congas from fiberglass to play. He learned to play by watching musicians in New York parks. His influences were mainly the Beatles , Jimi Hendrix , Armando Peraza , Mongo Santamaría and Willie Bobo . Castro later moved to Los Angeles , where he made his way into the local music scene.

Castro is a sought-after studio musician. It is thanks to him that percussion is an important part of rock and pop music. Well-known artists and groups he worked with in the studio include Gossip , the Rolling Stones , Toto , the Red Hot Chili Peppers , Stevie Wonder , Oasis and Eric Clapton . He went on tour with well-known artists and bands such as Fleetwood Mac , Los Lobotomys , Karizma and Joe Bonamassa .

Furnishing

Its equipment includes classical congas, timbales , bongos and shakers as well as cowbells and various hand percussion instruments. All instruments are from Latin Percussion , which he has been using since the beginning of his career.
