Voodoo Lounge is the 20th studio album by the Rolling Stones . It was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins (a pseudonym for Jagger and Richards). The recordings took place in Ireland between July and December 1993.

It achieved double platinum status in the US and was awarded a Grammy for best rock album in 1995. In the UK, Voodoo Lounge reached number 1 on the charts. In total, Voodoo Lounge sold 8 million copies; it is one of the Stones' best-selling albums.

It is the first Rolling Stones album without longtime bassist Bill Wyman . Darryl Jones played bass here for the first time .

The Stones were supported in their work on Voodoo Lounge by the following musicians: Chuck Leavell (keyboards), Ivan Neville (organ, vocals), Frank Gavin (fiddle), Max Baca (bajo sexto), Pierre de Beauport (guitar), David McMurray (Sax), Mark Isham (trumpet), Lenny Castro, Luís Jardim, Phil Jones (percussion), Flaco Jiménez (accordion) and Bernard Fowler and Bobby Womack (both vocals).

Love Is Strong , You Got Me Rocking , Out Of Tears and I Go Wild were released as singles , but without any notable chart position. However, the video for Love Is Strong , in which the Stones wander through New York as giants, was a success.

The Voodoo Lounge tour of 1994/1995 took the band to North and South America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Europe for 128 concerts. It was the most successful tour in music history to date and grossed 240 million euros. In early 1995 the band received the newly created Grammy Award for Best Rock Album for Voodoo Lounge .
