Jan-Olaf Immel (born March 14, 1976 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German handball player. He has the nickname "Eike" - based on the former goalkeeper of the national soccer team Eike Immel .
Career
The 2.03 meter tall back player made his international debut on May 7, 1999 against Belgium in Hasselt. He was not part of the national handball team for the 2007 World Cup . Immel was injured for over a year after multiple shoulder operations and could not play any games. Until December 2007 Immel played at TV Großwallstadt . When his contract there was no longer to be renewed, he moved early in December 2007 to the relegation-threatened second division TSG Münster . There Immel signed a two and a half year contract. From the 2008/09 season he worked as a player-coach in Münster. After the merger of TSG Münster with league rivals SG Wallau , Immel acted in his own capacity for the newly formed team HSG FrankfurtRheinMain . In summer 2010 he announced his move to DHC Rheinland , for whom he played until summer 2011. He then ended his active career and played his farewell game on February 3, 2012 together with Steffen Weber in Wiesbaden. He has been coaching TSG Eppstein since summer 2013.
