Music for Men is the fourth studio album by the US band Gossip .

To the album

The album was produced by Rick Rubin at Shangri La Studios in California . The cover shows a picture of the drummer Hannah Blilie and shows allusions to the cover of Morrissey's album Viva Hate or the look of kd lang .

The singles Heavy Cross and Love Long Distance were released from the album, both of which hit the German single charts. The former was published on June 5, 2009 and was placed in the German charts for the first time on June 19 and stayed there for a total of 97 weeks. In Switzerland and Austria the song lasted 78 and 64 weeks, respectively. It is the most successful song in the band.

Reviewer Thomas Pilgrim wrote on plattentests.de : “ (Gossip) continue to play with gender roles. In the album title, which of course was chosen deliberately and carefully. In the drawn out refrain of "Men in love", followed a little later by "with each other" grinning over both chubby cheeks. And the band always has a good laugh in view of the twelve more or less flawless hits that they have planted in the landscape with this album. Cool, unpretentious, purposefully slimmed down. "
