Classicos is a music album by the Bernese hip-hop collective Chlyklass , which was released on April 25, 2008 . The interpreters listed are the rappers Krust and Poul Prügu from the band PVP and the hip-hop producer and rapper Big Stroke under the name Rollin '500 ( Spanish: Rollin' Quinientos ). The album was made largely under the influence of alcohol.

Emergence

Between 2006 and 2008 the two MC's Christoph “Krust” Flury and Paul “Poul Prügu” Meyrat and Bruno “(Big) Stroke” Fivian, who is not officially part of the Chlyklass group, met every Thursday in the Chlyklass studio in Bern to consume rum from the Venezuelan brand Cacique Quinientos and to work on hip-hop songs for fun. Often other rappers in the group like Baze or Phantwo also took part in the traditional meeting and thereby participated in the music. When ten pieces of music were finished, Krust, Poul Prügu and Big Stroke decided to release the material as an album.

The instrumentals on the album come exclusively from Big Stroke, who repaired them in various areas before the release of Classicos . The album was mixed completely by Jan “J-Steel” Stehle in the Studiomamma in Münchenbuchsee , the mastering was done in True Business in Berlin by “Busy”, and the artwork was designed by Tommy Letterface.

Texts

As a rapper, Big Stroke is only involved in the songs Rollin '500 and Iszyt and also contributed the scratches to the album. The texts, which are mainly written and recorded while drunk, contain above all so-called battle rap , in which the contempt for supposedly underperforming competitors is expressed and one's own person is illuminated in an exaggeratedly positive manner. Some titles also contain humorous elements or illuminate the musicians' nightlife.

The piece Säget yo! is the only one without the participation of Flury and Meyrat as a rapper and is reserved for the two guest musicians.

reception

Classicos was christened on May 2nd, 2008 with a concert in Bern's Bierhübeli . In addition, on May 11th, the album reached number 64 in the Swiss album charts for a week.
