Marco Kunz (born August 14, 1985 in Mauensee ), known by the stage name Kunz , is a Swiss dialect musician from Lucerne .

Career

Marco Kunz grew up in Mauensee in a musical family. They sang together, the father was active in the Oberkirch yodelling club and learned to make music himself on his sister's guitar. His first musical success was winning the national junior yodelling award at the age of 10. Then he was a member of the Surseer youth choir and later belonged to a rock band with which he performed. In 2006 he became a member of the a-cappella group a-live , which also performed numerous appearances beyond the country's borders. From 2007 he was conductor of the b-live choir in Küsnacht and some time later he became musical director of a-live .

As early as 2010 he made solo appearances with his own music and in 2012 he left a-live and signed a contract with Universal . In the same year he recorded the mini album Chopf, Härz, Hand with six songs. The producer was Phil Merk from Baschi's band . In December he won the young talent award for best singer at the Small Prix Walo .

In May 2014 Kunz's first big album was released with the title Eifach so . It entered the Swiss charts at number 21 . After that it became a long-running hit, it kept returning to the charts and was placed in the top 100 for over a year. The best place was 13th place after a performance at Energy Air in Bern , which also brought his song Lüüt so wie mer to 3rd place in the single charts. The album was awarded a gold record for 10,000 units sold .

His second album Mundart Folk - that's what he calls his style of music - he released just a year later. This time it jumped straight to number one and again spent almost a year in the charts. In spring 2016 he received the award as Newcomer of the Year 2015 at the Prix Walo . He also contributed the song Chliini Händ to the film of the year Schellen-Ursli . At the beginning of 2017 the third album No Hunger was released and for the second time in a row he reached the top of the chart .

Kunz is also nicknamed “Alpen-Gosling” because he looks like the Canadian actor Ryan Gosling .
