a-live is an a -cappella show act from Switzerland made up of six artists . The group was founded in 1999 and performs up to 100 times a year at national and international events.

history

At the beginning, the formation only existed in Switzerland . From 2001 onwards, groups with the same name emerged in Munich , Hamburg and Berlin .

In 2002 the group celebrated 2nd place in the national Eurosong qualification behind the winner Francine Jordi with the self-composed song "Cosa" . Although it was not enough to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest, the next attempt was made in 2004 with the song "You Are Pretty". The group then had to admit defeat to Piero Esteriore & MusicStars and reached 4th place.

Her repertoire consists mainly of cover versions. These include well-known songs from Giuseppe Verdi to Elvis Presley to Lady Gaga . In addition to weddings, gala events and public concerts, her assignments also include appearances on Swiss and international television and radio. In 2012 they were guests in the Helene Fischer Show, which was broadcast on December 25, 2012 on ARD and SRF, and in 2014 the six men were seen on television as part of the Christmas Tattoo. They also appeared on Swiss television for broadcasts such as "August 1, 2010 - National Celebration from San Bernardino", "EURO 2008 - A dream comes true" and various contributions on other national channels such as TV3 , Tele24 or Tele Top .

In addition to the already mentioned appearance in December 2012, various tours with u. a. the Swiss touring theater Das Zelt to their milestones.

Over the years the singers from a-live have changed several times. Jon Colbath, an American who now leads the team musically, has been there from the start. Like Jon Colbath, the entire rest of the team lives in Switzerland, although two of them are Swiss by birth. The nationalities of Germany , Austria and Ireland are also represented in the sextet . Although the gentlemen communicate with one another in English, they use up to five different languages ​​on stage.
