Life

Vreni Bieri , civil: Verena Margreiter, b. Bieri (born June 16, 1955 in Wetzikon , Switzerland) began yodelling and singing at an early age. Then she got the title role in a musical and became known nationwide. In 1987 she had her first television appearance in Germany in the program "Im Krug zum Grüne Kranze". In the same year her first solo long-playing record was released . At that time she married the producer of her album, Rudi Margreiter , who was guitarist, singer and musical director of the Original Alpenland Quintet at the time. He already had several successes with his group (including Ms. Meier ), but then left the group in 1988 to devote more time to his wife's career. Nevertheless, both soon appeared as a duo.

In 1989 the duo had their first major success. With their title Maroni, Maroni, Maroni they were one of the Swiss representatives at the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1989 and only came in 14th. Nevertheless, their joint career began, especially as a singing duo. They were always guests in almost all folk music programs on television, including Musikantenstadl , Folk Hit Parade, Funny Musicians , Folk Music Pop Parade, Musicians Barn, Street of Songs and at folk music festivals.

In 1991 they took part again in the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1991 with Our St. Bernard and this time came second behind the Alpentrio Tirol . 1992 they reached 3rd place with Glücklich und z'fried'n, 8th place in 1993 with milk and bread , and in 1994 with Ein liebes Wort 4th place and again 8th place in 1995 with A Festival of Good Mood . In the same year they were also successful as authors of the winning title Take Your Time Again , sung by Géraldine Olivier . In 1998 they tried again with Träum not only your life , but did not get beyond the Swiss preliminary decision. Nevertheless, Rudi was also successful at the 1998 Grand Prix. He was the producer of the winning song “Das Feuer der Sehnsucht”, sung by Francine Jordi .

On April 27, 2005, Rudi Margreiter committed suicide in Ottikon . This brought the Vreni and Rudi era to an abrupt end. Vreni Margreiter b. Bieri decided to pursue a solo career and has since achieved initial success.
