Straße der Lieder was a musical entertainment program with the subtitle Musical Journey ... which was broadcast in the evening program by ARD from 1995 to 2008 ; then the name of the region visited or the route followed (see below). The producing broadcaster was Süddeutsche Rundfunk until 1998 , then the newly founded Südwestrundfunk .

Conception

The main actors in the program were the Fischer Choirs with their conductor Gotthilf Fischer . In each broadcast, they, or some of the choirs, drove to the respective broadcasting area in a vintage bus ( SETRA bus of the first series, built around 1960), whereby the song specially written for the broadcast series had the same title as the broadcast was sung. This gave the show a high recognition value .

Numerous artists appeared as guests at the most beautiful spots in the region or travel route, for which explanations were given. The range of music titles ranged from folk songs and hits to popular classical music .

From 2003, Gotthilf Fischer was supported in the presentation of the program by Eva Lind , who often contributed songs herself.

Broadcast dates

The ARD broadcast the program from September 15, 1995 on Saturdays at irregular intervals with up to five programs per year. It often ran parallel to Wetten, dass ..? of ZDF . Although it could not surpass its ratings , it achieved so much that its broadcast slot was secured. After 40 broadcasts, the series was discontinued in February 2008.

In 2009 and 2010 there were individual repetitions in the third programs . In the “Musical Journey” series, which has been produced by SWR since 2010 and moderated by Markus Brock , the musical framework program mainly shows excerpts from the “Street of Songs”. The programs are broadcast in several third-party programs on ARD.
