The registrar is a Swiss film production. The film has both romantic and comedic elements. The language is mostly Swiss German . On December 11, 2018, 3sat broadcast a version dubbed in standard German. The film was shot mainly in Bremgarten AG (old town scenes) and partly in Rheinau ZH (church scenes) and in Zurich (field scenes). The film had great success in Swiss cinemas. It was also shown in German cinemas since October 2009. It was directed by Micha Lewinsky ; Marie Leuenberger , Oriana Schrage and Dominique Jann played the leading roles .

Rahel Hubli is married, works as a registrar in a small Swiss town and has lost faith in great love. It wasn't until her childhood friend Ben suddenly reappears that she remembers what it was like to be in love. The two immediately understand each other again and feel connected as in their youth. But Ben wants to marry his fiancée, the German actress Tinka Panzer . Rahel is supposed to perform the wedding.
Rachel and Ben spend a lot of time together during the preparations for the wedding. They remember their past and their almost forgotten love. Old friends, Rachel's work colleague and the village pastor see a future in their love that has blossomed again. When Rahel also catches her husband Thomas having an affair, the chaos is perfect. In her role as registrar, she blows up Ben's wedding and the two become a couple.
