Beat Schlatter (born May 5, 1961 in Zurich ) is a Swiss cabaret artist , actor and screenwriter .

life and career

Schlatter grew up in Rüschlikon . He completed an apprenticeship as an interior decorator , but never did this job. From 1979 to 1982 he played as a drummer in various punk bands such as Liliput . With Liliput he also gained stage experience in the musical Der Hundeschwindel von Moscow in 1983 with compositions by Stephan Eicher . He became better known after 1984 when he founded the Götterspass cabaret , together with Patrick Frey and Enzo Esposito . The group won the Salzburger Stier and the Oltner Fir in 1992 and took part in the first edition of the Arosa Humor Festival .

From 1991 to 1996 he worked for the Swiss consumer protection program Kassensturz . He also organized bingo evenings , which also tried to appeal to a younger audience. The prices were mostly a bit unusual.

The greatest works by Schlatter to date are the two films Katzendiebe (1996) and Komiker (2000), in which he is a screenwriter and actor. Cat thieves won the Prix ​​Walo , comedian the SSA award for best screenplay. In 2012 he was honored with the Prix Walo 2011 in the category actor / actress for his play “Seegfrörni 2012” and the film “Hoselupf”.

He played the character of "Willi" in the soap opera Lüthi and Blanc on Swiss television .

Schlatter invented the name Aqui for the mineral water of the same name. For this he was rewarded with three gold vreneli .

He lent his voice to a computer gamer for the popular Jass computer program Stöck Wyys Stich .

Schlatter has been married since 2011 and lives in Zurich's Niederdorf .

On March 6, 2015, he was the victim of a beating of a mentally confused person at Meilen train station and suffered serious facial injuries.
