action
Ben and Nina come home late and have one last drink. They philosophize together about times past. When the doorbell rings unexpectedly, events precipitate and suddenly nothing is what it seems. A game of confusion begins through dream and reality.
When Ben opens the door, nobody is outside. But the doorbell rings again, causing Ben to wake up. Drunk with sleep, he opens the door and meets two policemen. The officers inform him that his girlfriend is dead and he must now accompany her to the station. When Ben resists the arrest, he wakes up from the nightmare bathed in sweat - and finds that Nina is sleeping peacefully in bed next to him. He takes her in his arms, reassured, and falls asleep again.
When the alarm goes off in the morning, Ben gets up and drinks a coffee in the kitchen. Then he says goodbye to the sleeping Nina. When Ben has left the apartment, you can see that Nina is already dead and that her body is already decaying.
background
The film deals with the subject of death and how people deal with it. The author was inspired to the story by a newspaper article about a man who lived with his late wife for several years.
