Fredi Rüegg brings runaway cats, some of which he stole himself, back to their owners. His home is a garage and he has resigned himself to the fact that his life goes on leisurely.

Fredi's colleague Alain has other worries as he is broke and divorced. He pretends to be a successful businessman for his daughter Tanja. He tries to win the daughter's favor by trying to help her band go to the rehearsal venue.

A short time later a rear-end collision occurs. The drivers of the Mercedes are Russian and want money for the damaged car. Without further ado, the Russians confiscate the van along with the instruments. For 1,500 francs, you can get the van and all of its contents back. Fredi and Alain already have an idea how they can raise the money.

According to the plan, the healer cat "Diana" is to be kidnapped, as its owner definitely wants to pay the missing amount. Then the kidnapping is planned.

Remarks

In 1996, when the film was released, Beat Schlatter and Patrick Frey were known as members of Cabaret Götterspass . Cat thieves was the first movie that the two made together. This film was seen by over 100,000 viewers and was on the hit list.
