Ruth Waldburger

Ruth Waldburger (born April 25, 1951 in Herisau ) is a Swiss film producer .

Life

Ruth Waldburger grew up in Arosa and Herisau. In 1974 she worked as a secretary and production assistant for the television program Kassensturz and then in the information department of Swiss television . In 1977 she completed an internship as a production manager with Alain Tanner .

In 1982 Waldburger became co-owner of Xanadu Film. In 1988 she founded her own production company. She is the owner and managing director of Vega Film AG in Zurich , with whom she has produced over 80 films, including author films as well as comedies and television series . She has produced films by well-known directors, including Jean-Luc Godard , Alain Resnais , Gianni Amelio and Silvio Soldini . Some of the film greats she has worked with include Marcello Mastroianni , Alain Delon and Brad Pitt , when he was just beginning his career in 1991.

In July 2000 Ruth Waldburger became co-founder and managing director of the distribution company Vega Distribution AG, which distributes films from Vega Film and other producers in Switzerland.

In January 2015 she received the 17th Bremen Film Prize, endowed with 8,000 euros, for her “fine feel for discoveries”.
