Their family happiness is suddenly destroyed when Salomé is kidnapped in front of a supermarket one day while her mother is shopping. A search operation carried out by the Zurich police under the leadership of Inspector Gottlieb and his assistant Andy Bauer remains unsuccessful. Then the ransom demand of a certain Monte appears. When handing over the ransom, however, things go wrong and Tom Sauter becomes the hunted himself. With the help of the private detective Lüthi and the journalist Ulla Merz, he goes in search of the daughter. The trail runs through half of Europe.
