action

Lisa once celebrated success as a writer on Berlin stages. She now lives with her family in a provincial village in Switzerland, where her husband Martin runs an elite international school. Her twin brother Sven has also achieved fame as an actor at the Berlin Schaubühne . But an aggressive leukemia disease interrupted his career. Sven hopes to be able to perform as Hamlet again . His friend and long-time director David doesn't want to cast the role with him because he fears that Sven could collapse on stage or even die.

The blow of fate makes the relationship between the siblings even closer. Lisa doesn't want to accept her brother's diagnosis. She travels to Berlin and does everything to see Sven on stage again as an actor. At the same time, she begins to feel creative and alive again. But Sven's condition is getting worse and her mother, Kathy, also an actress, proves to be unreliable and preoccupied with herself. Lisa then takes her brother to Switzerland. She hopes there will be a miracle through new treatment methods. For the healing of her twin brother, Lisa neglects everything else, including her family. This threatens to break up her marriage, especially when her husband Martin extends his contract with the school for five years without consulting her.

When Sven refrains from further treatments and his illness becomes more and more restrictive, he finally returns to Berlin. Lisa also travels to Berlin with her children Noah and Linne-Lu to support her brother, but without letting Martin know about it. Lisa, who had previously suffered from writer's block for a long time, is setting out on a modern adaptation of Hansel and Gretel . With this piece she wants to let Sven appear one last time at the Schaubühne, but David again refuses, referring to Sven's illness. Lisa is deeply disappointed in David. Meanwhile, Martin travels from Switzerland and takes the two children with him because, in his opinion, they shouldn't watch their uncle die. However, when the children are reluctant to leave Sven and their mother, Martin gives in and brings the children back to Lisa. This completes her play about Hansel and Gretel on the deathbed of their twin brother, carried by his encouragement and advice.
