Marthe Keller (born January 28, 1945 in Basel ) is a Swiss actress .

Life

Keller received dance training from 1953 and made her debut as a dancer at the Stadttheater Basel in 1962 . After taking acting lessons in Munich, she performed in Heidelberg and at the Schillertheater in Berlin.

After a few roles on German television, Marthe Keller began her film career in France under the direction of Philippe de Broca and alongside Yves Montand in Pack the Tiger Fast by the Tail (1969). She played her first leading role in If only Marie wasn't so moody (1970). In addition, she continued to work in theater productions.

In 1975 she left France and went to Hollywood . In 1976 she starred opposite Dustin Hoffman in The Marathon Man , for which she received a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actress. In Black Sunday (1977) by John Frankenheimer she embodied a terrorist, in Fedora by Billy Wilder a reclusive film diva who is to be won over for a new film. After other roles in Hollywood, among others alongside Al Pacino in Bobby Deerfield (1977) and in Die Formel mit Marlon Brando , she has played mainly theater since the 1980s. a. In 1971 their son Alexandre was born, his father was Philippe de Broca . At the beginning of 2012 Marthe Keller was raised by the French government to the rank of Knight of the French Legion of Honor . Until the eighties she was in a relationship with Al Pacino, with whom she lived together for seven years.
