Stephan Pörtner

Stephan Pörtner (born November 24, 1965 in Zurich ) is a Swiss writer and translator .

Life

Stephan Pörtner spent his childhood and youth in Zurich. He grew up in a family of writers, his father was the writer Paul Pörtner and his sister is the writer Milena Moser . In 1980 he dropped out of school and took an active part in the youth riots in Zurich. He started a self-managed beverage trading company which he sold after a few years. In 1996 he graduated from the interpreting school. He translated literature and comics from English, Spanish and French into German.

His first detective novel, Köbi der Held , was published in 1998. Since then, four more novels with the main character, Jakob (Köbi) Robert, the author's alter ego have followed at regular intervals . Köbi, who solves criminal cases as a private investigator, lives in District 4 on Langstrasse in Zurich and belongs to the alternative scene.

Another figure is the Zurich canton police commissioner Henry Kummer, who appears in Pörtner's detective novels written for the daily newspaper of the city of Zurich .

On behalf of the Swiss housing cooperatives, a thriller about the caretaker Edi was published in 2013.
