Bookworms

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bookworms were an amateur cabaret from Potsdam in Brandenburg .

history

The bookworms were created in 1974 as a student cabaret for the youth library club at the scientific general library of the Potsdam district. The ensemble founded by Ronald Gohr and Konstanze Langer started in GDR times in 1974 with the program This is us - scenes from club life . The cabaret, which “brought some things over the ramp with a disrespectful wink that others didn't even dare to think”, also performed in clubs and cultural centers in the Potsdam district. With the Potstausend program - we're punctual! In 1988, the ensemble heralded the celebrations for the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Potsdam. In “mocking sketches ”, the bookworms targeted the state of urban development in the city center and in the new building districts on the outskirts. Shortly before the fall of the Wall in 1989, the Potsdam Polit-Puree was performed.

Even after the fall of the Wall, the bookworms presented political cabaret. The first programs were titled On the Bund - A Show of Illusions (1990) or Black as Power (1993). For the 30th anniversary, the “outstanding folk art collective” played, according to the Potsdam Latest News, “believable, immediate, even cheeky”.
