Marcel Vaid

Marcel Vaid (* 1967 in Erlangen ) is a Swiss - German musician and composer for film music and theater .

Life

Marcel Vaid was born in Erlangen in 1967. He studied guitar at the Academy for Contemporary Music in Zurich. As a freelance composer, he works on settings for theater productions, as well as television and cinema films.

Various works by Marcel Vaid have been awarded prizes for the best film music, for example he has won the Swiss film prize ( When the sun fell from the sky , Goodnight Nobody , Zara ) and other prizes at the Locarno , Angers and Valencia film festivals . According to his own statement, particular focus of his working method is the reduction to the essentials as well as the "examination of acoustic instruments and their spatial processing on the computer." In addition to his work as a film composer, Marcel Vaid and his brother Rafi Vaid are the founders of the band Superterz , a national and international project for electroacoustic experimental music.

Marcel Vaid has worked with numerous artists, including Sophie Hunger , Nils Petter Molvær , Masami Akita / Merzbow , Fredi Murer , Lauren Newton , Marianne Schroeder and Damo Suzuki .

Vaid has his own recording studio. He lives with his family in Zurich .
