The Friend is a film by director Micha Lewinsky , produced in Switzerland and released in 2008 . Philippe Graber and Johanna Bantzer play the leading roles . Lewinsky's debut feature film was awarded the Swiss Film Prize and the Zurich Film Prize in 2008 .
The songs sung by Emilie Welti in the role of Larissa come from herself. In addition, she was responsible for the soundtrack under her stage name Sophie Hunger together with Marcel Vaid . The film was unsuccessfully proposed for an Oscar nomination by the Federal Office of Culture .

Emil is a shy, somewhat clumsy outsider. In real life, he would have little chance of making a girlfriend. But Emil, of all people, receives the attention he desires from the self-confident blues singer Larissa, who is admired by everyone. They meet for the first time in a café and exchange cell phone numbers.
However, it soon becomes clear that Larissa has a specific purpose. She intends to commit suicide and asks Emil to pretend to be her friend to her family. After her death, he becomes a constant guest in Larissa's parents' house and falls in love with her sister Nora. The family is not allowed to find out anything about his true history with Larissa.
