Willy Tell (born October 12, 1966 in Doppleschwand , Canton of Lucerne ; real name Willy Vogel) is a Swiss musician, composer and lyricist. His trademark is the black and white Örgeli .

biography

Willy Vogel was born the fifth of six children on his mother's 36th birthday. He grew up on a farm with his two sisters and three brothers. From an early age he was intensively involved with music. He took accordion lessons for six years, graduated from the Lucerne Jazz School for two years and attended the Academy of Contemporary Music Zurich.

Musician career

A colleague of Willy Tells founded the group Snail, which he later took over. Initially, most of the pieces were cover versions, later Willy Tell wrote his own dialect texts for well-known songs.

In 2000 Willy Tell founded the ChueLee formation . The name should symbolize the connection between the modern and the traditional. In addition to the band members of Snail, his childhood friend Christian Duss joined them in 2002. Due to personal differences, Willy Tell left the group in 2009.

Since April 2009 Willy Tell was on the road with his new project Willy Tell & sini Buebä and the album Volks-Alpen-Rock .

Since 2012, Willy Tell has also performed in a duo or trio again. With the album “Musicians, single searches”, he went back to his roots and was able to build on old successes in the genres of dialect rock and “folk hits”.

Honors

In 2011 a wagon of the Brienz-Rothorn cogwheel steam train was christened “Willy Tell & sini Bänd”.
