Mummenschanz mask theater
Mummenschanz is a Swiss mask theater group that became known mainly for almost three years of playing on Broadway in New York in the USA , Switzerland , but also around the world. Founded in 1972 by Andres Bossard (* August 9, 1944 † March 15, 1992), Bernie Schürch (* August 3, 1944) and Floriana Frassetto (* December 9, 1950), Mummenschanz still exists today and is still characterized by its unique character Style that goes far beyond the traditional forms of pantomime . In 2011 the ensemble won the jury award of the Arosa Humor Festival , the Arosa Humor Filler. The SwissAward 2011 Culture also went to Mummenschanz. In 2012 Mummenschanz was awarded the Prix Walo 2011 for the best stage production. At the beginning of 2012, the Zurich dancer and choreographer Philipp Egli joined Mummenschanz as a replacement for founding member Bernie Schürch, who left the stage on June 17, 2012 at the age of almost 68. In 2015, Mummenschanz experienced a process of rejuvenation among the actors. Two young Swiss up-and-coming artists were introduced to wordless art, and two more actors were added in the summer of 2016. Mummenschanz has been on the road with the new show "you & me" since December 1st, 2016. In Switzerland alone, over 100,000 viewers saw the current program between 2016 and 2018. Mummenschanz toured the USA in 2018, played a long guest appearance in New York and were in Cairo, Madrid, Taiwan and various German cities.
