Lea Lu (* 1984 in Zurich ; actually Lea Dudzik ) is a Swiss singer and songwriter .

Life

Lea Dudzik, who has Polish, Spanish and French roots, grew up in Zurich. She started playing the violin at the age of five . Later she learned singing, piano and guitar . She has been a synesthete since birth : she perceives tones, sounds and numbers as colors at the same time.

In 2002 she joined the jazz pop band Nexus as the lead singer during her training at the Rämibühl high school . With this she began to write her own pieces for the first time in 2004. The band subsequently won the young talent award at the Young Lions Swiss Jazz Festival and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2004 . Lea Dudzik has been studying jazz , singing and piano at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences since 2005 .

In July 2007 Lea Dudzik performed solo for the first time under the stage name Lea Lu in the Seebad Enge in Zurich; the NZZ am Sonntag wrote about it: “ Music like walking barefoot on the beach last summer evening ”. This was followed by other appearances beyond the greater Zurich area, for example at the Festival da Jazz St. Moritz .

Works

In 2008 she released her EP Hawaii with 2 tracks. In autumn 2009, Sony Music released their first album Dots and Lines . The second album Color followed in 2011, including the single Stay With Me - also on Sony Music .
