Subzonic
Subzonic was a Swiss music band consisting of eight musicians.
history
The multicultural band was founded in 1992 by Roman Camenzind ( guitar , vocals ) and his schoolmate Arsi Montsenigos (guitar). After a short time the band was strengthened by Dani Weber ( bass ). This was followed by Daniel “Soldi” Soldenhoff ( chant ), Fredy Espejo (DJ & Spanish chant), Christian Bisang ( drums ) and Oliver Götze ( keyboard ). In 1996 the singer Myrto Joannidis joined as the eighth band member. In 1997 her first album was released with "Subzonic". Her debut album reached number 33 in the Swiss charts and stayed in the top 50 for a total of eight weeks.
The band made their breakthrough in 1999 with the successful Swiss song “Titelgschicht”, the soundtrack for the film “Exclusiv”. It advanced to number 2 on the Swiss singles chart and achieved gold status.
In spring 2005 the band broke up. On April 30, 2005 she performed for the last time on the occasion of the “Festival im HB” event. On May 6, 2005 the final farewell concert took place in a small and personal setting in the Mascotte Zurich.
The band composed most of their songs in Swiss German , but also in Spanish (Fredy Espejo), Greek (Arsenios Montsenigos) and a single song in English ('I Feel'). Musically, Subzonic moved on a unique mix of hip-hop , rock and melodic pop . Along with G-Punkt and Merfen Orange, Subzonic are among the founders of the “New Swiss Dialect ”.
Since the band split up, Roman Camenzind has been working as a producer for Swiss musicians such as Myrto, Baschi and the Lovebugs . The singer Myrto Joannidis has since released two solo albums. After the separation, Fredy Espejo started his own business as a designer and founded the JANUARY design bureau.
