The band 77 Bombay Street was founded in 2007 by the four brothers Matt, Joe, Esra and Simri-Ramon in the canton of Graubünden , Switzerland . The band plays characteristic folk and indie rock .

Band history

The four brothers Matt (* 1982), Joe (* 1984), Esra (* 1986) and Simri-Ramon Buchli (* 1990) grew up in a family of nine in Basel . As children, they played in hospitals, old people's homes and at private events. In 2001 the family moved to Australia to Adelaide at 77 Bombay Street.

When the four brothers came back to Switzerland two years later, they moved to their grandparents' chalet in Scharans im Domleschg , where they founded their band in 2007. Just one year after the band was founded, 77 Bombay Street won the MyCokemusic Soundcheck, the small Prix Walo in the "Band" category and a record deal.

With the songs 47 Millionaires , Long Way , I Love Lady Gaga and Up in the Sky they gained national fame through the radio. 77 Bombay Street completed over 150 live performances in the four years from 2007 to 2011. In spring 2011, 17 of their 21 club shows were sold out and in summer they performed at a total of 20 festivals. Her debut album Up in the Sky consists of twelve folk rock songs. The title song became a top 10 hit and stayed in the Swiss charts for 82 weeks . The album reached number 3 on the album charts and was in the charts for over two years. It has been certified platinum for more than 30,000 copies sold .

The second album Oko Town was released in October of the following year . It rose to number 1 on the charts and also reached platinum status.

Three years passed before the next album. Seven Mountains was released in September 2015 and took the band to number one for the second time.

Awards

In 2009 the band won the small Prix ​​Walo and the MyCokemusic Contest, and in 2011 the Prix Walo in the Pop / Rock category .

On January 12, 2013, the band received the SwissAward 2012 in the “Show” category.
