Gregory knee
Gregory Frederic Knie (born October 9, 1977 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss circus producer and entrepreneur.
Life
Gregory Knie is the son of Rolf Knie and Erica Brosi. He belongs to the 7th generation of the Knie circus dynasty , who run the Swiss National Circus and Knies Children's Zoo . At the age of six he made his debut in the ring at Circus Knie as "Peter Pan" with his own pony dressage. Like most circus children, Gregory Knie grew up multilingual. After his parents separated in 1983, Knie lived either in Spain or Costa Rica . In 2002 he returned to Switzerland.
Career
From 1997 to 2001 he studied "International Economics" at Rollins College , Florida and graduated in 2001 with a "Bachelor of International Business". During his studies, he had already worked in Orlando for the Disney group as a project manager in the entertainment area. In 2002, a new circus project for Switzerland was created based on the concept of Gregory and Rolf Knie: the winter circus Salto Natale celebrated its premiere in Zurich on November 29, 2002 with its debut production “Chamäleon”. In 2008 Gregory Knie went on a European tour as the sole producer responsible for the fifth anniversary show “Synfunia” and presented “Salto Natale” outside of Switzerland for the first time. In 2011, their son and father created another circus company - the Ohlala Love Circus . It is the first circus in Switzerland for adults only, which celebrated its premiere in September 2011 on the Air Force Center premises in Dübendorf. In 2012 Salto Natale celebrated its tenth anniversary with “Sternenfänger”.
- One drop ambassador
Gregory Knie has been an ambassador for the non-profit organization One Drop since 2012 , which was founded in 2007 by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté . The initiative works to fight poverty by giving people in developing countries access to water and sanitation systems.
