Georg Schlunegger (born November 8, 1980 in Bern ) is a Swiss composer , songwriter and producer .

biography

Georg Schlunegger grew up in Grindelwald and Münsingen . After his commercial apprenticeship with the Swiss Federal Railways SBB , he studied history at the University of Bern from 2002 to 2010 . During this time, the autodidact also made his first experiences as a songwriter and composer. Today he is co-owner of the production company Hitmill and, with 15 albums (including three at number 1) and eight singles (including two at number 1) in the top ten of the Swiss charts, is one of the most successful music producers in Switzerland. His compositions achieved nine gold, four platinum and one double platinum awards. Georg Schlunegger has been married since 2016 and has two daughters. He lives with his family in Zurich .

Career

His musical beginnings lie in the school band Crossfade, in which he played with Daniel Kandlbauer . He taught himself guitar, piano and drums. Even during his studies he wrote songs for Swiss artists such as Francine Jordi , Trauffer , Fabienne Louves and the bands George as well as Dreieck and Luttenberger * Klug from Austria . Roman Camenzind became aware of him in 2009 . A year later he started working at Hitmill , moved to Zurich and has been co-owner of the production company since 2014.

Schlunegger works with Swiss performers, including Anna Känzig , Anna Rossinelli , Eliane , Francine Jordi and the band Kunz . The albums Marylou by Anna Rossinelli, Flöru by Florian Ast and Mundart Folk by Kunz all landed at number 1. In 2013 the Salvation Army (band) represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest ESC. Schlunegger, who composed and produced the hymn You and Me , accompanied the group to Malmö. In the competition of the Salvationists Bern joined the Salvation Army existing pop group under the name Takasa.

In addition to music for pop artists, Georg Schlunegger also worked with Hitmill for television and television advertising. Together with Nikol Camenzind, Schlunegger composes all the songs for the Schwiizergoofe children's choir . In spring 2013 the first double CD with 15 songs in the sung and an instrumental version for singing along was published. Since then, at least one Schwiizergoofe double CD has been released every year and each album reached the top ten album charts, four albums were awarded platinum for over 20,000 copies sold. Roman and Nikol Camenzind and Georg Schlunegger produced the song Es Truckli vou Liebi for Coop's 2015 Christmas campaign . Together with the children's choir, Schlunegger interpreted the song himself. For every CD and ticket sold, the Schwiizergoofe is donated to the UNICEF children's aid organization.

For the fundraiser Every penny counts of Swiss Radio and Television and the Swiss Solidarity , composed and wrote lyrics George Schlunegger together with the Zurich singer Anna Kaenzig the official anthem JRZ 2016 "Lion's Heart".

Heimweh , the first CD of his male project choir of the same name , was released in August 2016 . The singers in the choir are between 24 and 55 years old and come from seven different cantons in Switzerland. Hitmill achieved gold status with “Schlunegger's Homesickness” before the CD was officially available in stores. On February 10, 2017, “Schluneggers Heimweh” won two Swiss Music Awards for Best Swiss Band and Best Breaking Act .

On May 14, 2017, Georg Schlunegger received the Prix ​​Walo as best newcomer.
