Lennon & Maisy are a sibling duo from Canada that consists of the two sisters Lennon Stella and Maisy Stella. They gained international fame through their songs presented on YouTube and their performance in the music television series Nashville . In 2014 she landed a hit in the Swiss charts with the advertising song Love .
history
Lennon Stella and her sister Maisy, who is a good four years her junior, come from Oshawa in the province of Ontario . Her parents Brad and Marylynne Stella are known as the country duo The Stellas . The two sisters attracted attention on the Internet in 2012 when they posted a cover version of Call Your Girlfriend by Robyn on the video platform YouTube . In the video they make the rhythm sounds with the help of two plastic cans. It went viral and garnered many millions of views (over 29 million as of September 2017).
Then they were cast for the US television series Nashville and got the role of the children of the leading actors. From the second season, their roles were upgraded again. The reason for this was her performance of Ho Hey from the Lumineers in season 1, which came in at number 32 in the US country charts. With the song they also appeared in the Grand Ole Opry .
They then went on to appear at the CMA Awards , the White House, and country singer Kimberly Perry's wedding . They had further successes in the country charts with A Life That's Good (from the second season of Nashville ) and That's What's Up (originally by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros ). In addition, they were represented on the soundtrack albums of the television series, which were often represented in the US album charts .
At the beginning of 2014, Lennon & Maisy were hired by the Swiss production company HitMill for an advertising campaign for the Coop retail chain . A year earlier, the Sons of Nature had a number one hit in the previous campaign with the song I Love . The two sisters re-recorded the song as Love as a simply orchestrated harmony song . Due to the television presence of the associated commercial, the song in its version came back to number 2 on the Swiss charts and stayed there for three weeks.
A children's book based on her song In the Waves was published the following year . They had a Twitter hit with their version of Boom Clap by Charli XCX . They also made a name for themselves as fashion role models, collaborated with fashion magazines, and performed at New York Fashion Week .
