The band Perry
The Band Perry is an American country band from Mobile , Alabama , that consists of three siblings.
Band history
The older sister Kimberly Perry had her first band when she was 15 years old, and she was the lead singer. The two younger brothers Neil and Reid later formed their own band and all played in different groups before all three of them formed the band Perry in 2005 and toured together.
Three years later, Bob Doyle, manager of Garth Brooks , became aware of her and brought her to the recording studio. In 2009 they signed with the Republic Nashville label and released their debut single Hip to My Heart that same year . It immediately reached number 20 in the country charts.
In the summer of 2010, the successor If I Die Young was released and with this second release they had a number one hit in the country charts , which also made it into the top 20 in the pop charts . The song sold over half a million copies and was nominated for an award for best country song at the 2011 Grammy Awards . The debut album named after the band reached number 4 on the album charts in autumn.
In early December 2011 the band was nominated for another Grammy. They were the only country artists to receive a nomination in a cross-genre category for best new artist. In the same month, her debut album in the US went platinum for one million units sold.
For their version of Gentle on My Mind by John Hartford , which they recorded for the biography of Glen Cambell in 2014 and later featured at the CMA Awards , they won a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group .
