Heimweh ( Schlunegger's Heimweh until 2017 ) is a Swiss male choir founded by Georg Schlunegger .

Choral history

The preparatory work on Schlunegger's homesickness began in 2014. It was around this time that composer and producer Georg Schlunegger started looking for singers for a choir with whom he could compose new folk songs. The aim was to find suitable singers from the various cantons of Switzerland. The premiere took place on August 4, 2016 on the SRF broadcast Donnschtig-Jass , where the male choir presented its first single Rosemarie , which became an instant hit. The debut album Heimweh also achieved an award as a gold record straight away , although the album and the single were only available on the choir website. At the Swiss Music Awards , the choir won the two categories “Best Group” and “Best Breaking Act”. The album later reached double platinum.

At the beginning of 2017, Schlunegger announced his withdrawal from the live activities of the project. The Zurich music producer became a father again in July 2017 and wanted to devote more time to the family. Accordingly, the name "Schlunegger" was deleted from the band name and the project has been known as "Homesickness" ever since. He stays with the band as a songwriter and producer.

For the SRF show I schänke dir es Lied , homesickness jumped in for the temporarily prevented yodelling club Wiesenberg and covered Blueme by Polo Hofer . The song was voted the most popular song of the season. They also used the song as the title track for their second album, which reached number 1 on the Swiss charts for the first time . The album contained a Swiss dialect version of the Guns-n'-Roses classic Sweet Child of Mine with Alls ärs geschter gsi . Blueme was awarded a platinum record based on the pre-orders .

In 2018 the album Vom Gipfel is Tal was released , which also reached number 1 on the Swiss hit parade.
