The Salvation Army is one of Salvationists of Berne Salvation Army existing pop group that the Swiss preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2013 was established. At the competition in Malmö , she performed under the name Takasa .

The group won the Swiss finals for the Eurovision Song Contest with the title You and Me . In the decision show broadcast live by Swiss television SRF 1 on December 15, 2012, she received 37% of the votes from the televoting . The group thus qualified to represent Switzerland at the Song Contest in Malmö . However, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) raised concerns that the group's name and uniforms were not in compliance with the rules. It therefore remained open whether the group would take part, as the appearance as a Salvation Army including uniforms is part of the group's concept. In the run-up to the preliminary round, the EBU had not reported any rule violations. In January 2013, the group announced that they would take part in the contest under a different name and with different clothes. On January 6, 2013, the song You and Me entered the Swiss charts at number 21 and stayed in the charts for three weeks.

The youngest musician in the band was Sarah Breiter at the age of 20, the oldest was Emil Ramsauer, who celebrated his 95th birthday in early March 2013. He was the oldest musician who has ever entered the Eurovision Song Contest.

On March 13, 2013 the band announced that they would now perform under the name Takasa ( Swahili for: to clean ) and with white and blue clothes. On March 14, 2013, a new music video for You and Me was presented, showing the band driving a red Fiat 600 to Malmö . A rumor spread on the Internet that Takasa , based on Prince, stands for The artists ... or The act known as Salvation Army were rejected by the musicians. After their participation in the second semifinals, the group could not qualify for the final.
