Sebalter (born July 1, 1985 ), also spelled SEBalter , actually Sebastiano Paù-Lessi , is a Swiss singer and violinist . He comes from Giubiasco , a village near Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino.

biography

Sebalter, along with two other interpreters, was selected internally by the Italian-language television in Switzerland, Radiotelevisione Svizzera , to take part in the preliminary round of The Great Decision Show for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark . From the three Ticino residents , a representative for this canton was selected in the six entries, with the jury choosing Sebalter. He also won the nationwide final in Kreuzlingen on February 1, 2014 and was therefore able to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

On May 8, 2014 Sebalter reached 4th place in the second semi-final with 92 points and was thus allowed to compete in the final. There he took 13th place on May 10th with a total of 64 points.

The completion of his debut album then took until the end of the year. Day of Glory was released on January 9, 2015 and entered the Swiss charts at number nine. Then Sebalter announced that he would end his music career and return to his job as a lawyer .

In 2015 he was a member of the jury of The Great Decision Show 2015 for RSI , in which his successor as a Swiss participant in the Eurovision Song Contest was sought.

In 2017 he released his album Awakening . Three years later he released his first Italian-language album.
