Anna Rossinelli (born April 20, 1987 in Basel ) is a Swiss singer-songwriter . She represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf .

Life

Rossinelli made her first stage experience at the age of 13. A year later she founded her first a cappella band, and this was followed by appearances with various other bands. She later took lessons at the Basel Jazz School (Basel Music School), where the curriculum included singing , music theory and ear training as well as piano lessons . In 2010 Rossinelli spent half a year in New York City with Georg Dillier for musical and linguistic training.

In addition to her musical training, Rossinelli completed an apprenticeship as a specialist in care, specializing in disabled care. She also worked as a model for underwear for the Tarzan label and as a waitress and runs the kiosk in a Basel Badi on the Rhine.

Rossinelli was with Georg Dillier, the band's bassist, for twelve years. They split in 2015 but continue to make music together in the band.

In the third season of the program The Voice of Switzerland , which was broadcast from January 27 to April 6, 2020, she was one of the four coaches.

In autumn 2008 the pop-soul trio Anne Claire was formed with Anna Rossinelli as singer, guitarist and drummer Manuel Meisel (* 1983 in Basel) and bassist Georg Dillier (* 1982 in Basel). The trio went on a street music tour through Europe and has been called Anna Rossinelli since 2010 .

Rossinelli applied with the ballad In Love for a While (text and music: David Klein ) for the qualification of Swiss television for the starting position of Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf . She made it into the decision show on December 11, 2010 in Kreuzlingen , where she prevailed against eleven competitors. Before the show, she was considered an outsider by the experts. During the broadcast, however, it received the best reviews from the jury.

On May 10, 2011 she entered the first semifinals of the Song Contest in Düsseldorf. For the first time since 2006 someone from Switzerland reached the final of the competition. There Rossinelli, who appeared together with her band , landed only on the 25th and last place. The entry received only 19 points: from Great Britain (10), Serbia (5) and Slovakia (4).
